Mommy, am I killing you?

Here is how the conversation played out between William, my three year old, and me in the car on the way home from school. He is jazzed and I am a bit tired from the day.
William: Mommy, Mommy, Mommy. Mommy?
Me: (sigh, try to not sound annoyed) Yes, Will.
William: Mommy, am I killing you?
Me: What?
William: Mommy, am I killing you?
Me: No, I don’t think so. (pause, realization) Oh! Oh, baby Will, you are not killing me. That is just something people say.
William: Can I say it?
Me: Sure, baby.
William: Mommy, Mommy, Mommy. Mommy?
Me: Yes Will.
William: Mommy, you’re killing me.
--He is so fun.--

We have had similar conversations about the phrases:
off like a herd of turtles
herding cats
cracking your head open

Out of these choices, I decided the “Mommy am I killing you?” would make the best blog title. Welcome to my blog.
